....about moral relativism, before I have no friends left.... lol...
As you probably know, 4 russian hostages have been executed by Al-Qaida forces in Iraq, and the video of the execution has been distributed for propaghanda purposes by the same. All believers in moral relativity, watch the video at peril of altering your worldview.
If you can watch that video without appreciating the difference between it, and the photos that have come out of Abu Ghraib, for example, then there is nothing that I can say to you that will change your mind. But I'll try to remember to thank those that I meet who fight for liberty on your behalf.

I'm entering this debate late, so I may have missed something. Is your point that:
(A) Al-Qaida's treatment of prisoners is worse than the treatment of prisoners at Abu Ghraib
or
(B) Because the treatment of prisoners by Al-Qaida is so terrible, that the US has every right to treat the prisoners at Abu Ghraib/Guantanamo like they have.
I agree with you if it's (A), but I hope you're not using that as a reason to excuse the US ignoring its Bill Of Rights (and the Geneva Accords) by allowing "cruel and unusual punishment" and certainly not giving "speedy and fair trials".
Yes, it's worse to cut off someone's head than to keep them in jail indefinitely w/o trial, but neither are OK.
Well the point is mainly that I believe the American point is just, as opposed to those that would believe that it can't be any more just than Al-Qaida's, for example.
I also believe that if the American military feels it has just cause to detain these 'illegal combatants', then they're in a better position to make that decision than I am.
Further, while both American and its current enemies use extreme methods to further their causes, because I side with the Americans, I trust that they use methods most expedient to their goals.
